Lonsdale Dental Practice boast a strong, experienced team of dentists, hygienists, therapists, technicians and support staff who collectively care for your smile.

With over 27 years of NHS and private practice experience, the practices are lead by Barry Rimmer – a highly regarded and recognised dental practioner and academic. Barry ensures that trust and care are at the core values on which the practices are built. With Barry's support. each member of staff has the patient’s health, concerns, desires and positive dental experience at the forefront of their minds. The ultimate aim is to gain your trust and demonstrate in every way that ‘we care for you smile’.

Barry Rimmer
Principal Dentist

Barry Rimmer qualified from Liverpool University in 1986 and became a Locum House Officer, then the Dental House Officer at Liverpool Dental Hospital.

In July 1987 he became an associate at Dr Chow’s Dental Practice Group in Liverpool where he stayed until he decided to open his own practice in Ashton-in-Makerfield in June 1989.

Kate Ogier-Smith
Dental Therapist

Kate Ogier-Smith is a registered dental therapist. Dental Therapy covers the same areas as dental hygiene, but dental therapists are also able to carry out (under prescription from a dentist), direct restorations on permanent and primary teeth, carry out pulpotomies on primary teeth, extract primary teeth, place pre-formed crowns on primary teeth and plan the delivery of a patient's care.

Sarah Robertson

Sarah is our practice receptionist. She has been a welcome addition to our team at Lonsdale dental practice with her friendly and welcoming smile and manner. She is married with a little boy who keeps her very busy in her free time.

Derrian Ifould
Head Nurse

Derrian has been part of our team for 3 years and has recently been promoted to Head Nurse. She is keen to develop in this role and is already undertaking further training to enhance her skills. In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit, socialising and travel.

Lucy Kidd
Dental Nurse

Lucy has been part of our team for 4 years. Lucy joined the practice in 2014 and qualified in February 2017.  She is a keen runner who hopes to one day compete in a marathon but in the meantime she enjoys long walks with her dog Alfie. She is currently on maternity leave and thoroughly enjoying looking after her baby girl.
