With over 27 years of NHS and private practice experience, the practices are lead by Barry Rimmer – a highly regarded and recognised dental practioner and academic. Barry ensures that trust and care are at the core values on which the practices are built. Barry Rimmer qualified from Liverpool University in 1986 and became a Locum House Officer, then the Dental House Officer at Liverpool Dental Hospital.
In July 1987 he became an associate at Dr Chow’s Dental Practice Group in Liverpool where he stayed until he decided to open his own practice in Ashton-in-Makerfield in June 1989.
Kate Ogier-Smith is a registered dental therapist. Dental Therapy covers the same areas as dental hygiene, but dental therapists are also able to carry out (under prescription from a dentist), direct restorations on permanent and primary teeth, carry out pulpotomies on primary teeth, extract primary teeth, place pre-formed crowns on primary teeth and plan the delivery of a patient's care.
Tracey qualified in 2000 from Leeds Dental Institute and received a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and her official title is Registered Dental Hygienist. After qualifying she also completed further courses including: the administration of inferior dental blocks, the taking of impressions, and re-cementing crowns temporarily. She also keeps up to date with regular professional development courses.
Head Dental Nurse
Rachel Brown joined the practice in 2011. After studying Adult Nursing for two years at The University of Central Lancashire she decided to pursue a career in Dental Nursing.In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with family and friends. Rachel became Head Nurse in 2015.
Group Practice Manager
Carolyn Spencer has worked at the practice since 1996 as the Group Practice Manager, she came with a background of retail management. Carolyn completed the skills for small business programme in the year 2000 then went on to complete transformation programme later that year and in 2003 gained a qualification in dental practice management along with continually gaining up to date knowledge in all areas of dental practice management.
